Thanks to the Direct Connect network, which in case you don’t already know this, is a peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol, users can connect to hubs and thus share data. The AirDC++ application for Windows uses the aforementioned network to allow its users to share data with others. This application is in fact a free, light, and user friendly DC client that makes it very easy to share files.

AirDC++ is available for 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. The setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process will ask you which components you want to install: AirDC++ core files, start menu shortcuts, Radox emoticon pack, themes, and language translations. The wizard will also ask you where you want to install AirDC++. You’ll see that completing the installation process will take little of your time and will require a minimum amount of effort.

When you’re done with the installation and you run AirDC++ for the first time, you will be presented with another wizard. This one will allow you to choose your nickname, choose the type of hubs you want to connect to, pick the interface language, set connection speed and download limits. Do note that not completing this wizard will lower your transfer speeds and affect the usability of the client.

The application’s interface is typical of a DC client. If you’ve used oDC, DC++, or another DC client before, you should immediately feel at home with AirDC++. The very nice thing about the interface is that it can be customized. You can choose what toolbars to see on the interface, you can pick the font and window colors, and you can enable a theme.

With AirDC++, you get to connect to public, rar, and private hubs. Once connected, you can download any files shared by the people connected to the hub; those people in return can download any of the files you chose to share. That is the main bit of functionality you can expect to get from AirDC++. To better put things in perspective, here’s a quick look at the application’s main features: group queued files into directories, automatic downloads, support for NMDC and ADC protocols, encrypted transfers, SFV checker, and more.

You can use AirDC++ for free for as long as you want.

AirDC++ is just a properly good DC client.

Pros

AirDC++ is available for 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. The application comes with a user friendly interface that can be customized. AirDC++ offers all the functionality you would expect to get from a DC client. AirDC++ is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
